I began using confocal microscopes during my undergraduate studies, which sparked my passion for microscopy. I continued this work during my graduate studies, where I investigated cell division during development. At that stage, I could produce beautiful images, but I did not yet fully understand the processes behind them. After completing my PhD and a short postdoctoral position, I moved into a core facility role, helping to manage a wide range of microscopes, from stereo and widefield fluorescence systems to advanced multiphoton platforms. This experience gave me a deep understanding of how microscopes work and what each decision means in the journey from sample prep to image to analysis.
Working in the core facility also revealed a new passion for me: helping others generate high-quality images and understand the tools they were using. That focus on education and collaboration has guided my career ever since. I have held roles in microscopy sales, sales force training, application support, and marketing, each building on the last. These experiences ultimately led me to my current role as Business Development Manager at CrestOptics, where I can effectively combine my technical background with my strengths in sales, training, and customer support.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my three rabbits, collecting vacation tattoos, and knitting for friends. I value creativity both personally and professionally, and I enjoy bringing that mindset into everything I do.
